H.E. Cristian David
Minister Delegate for Romanians Abroad

H.E. Cristian David is currently member of the Romanian Government, in capacity of Minister Delegate responsible for relations with Romanian Communities Abroad. Concurrently, he is Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Liberal Party, and Vice-President in the Liberal International.

His ministerial experience includes governmental mandates as minister for internal affairs and administrative reform, and minister overseeing the implementation of the aquis comunitaire.

Mr. David’s institutional perspective has been enhanced by extensive practice in parliamentary system. H.E. Cristian David represented the Liberal National Party in the Romanian Parliament for two consecutive mandates (2004-2012), as Chairman of the Defence Committee, Member in the Committee overseeing Intelligence Agencies, Member in the Romania-R. Moldova common Committee for European integration, Member in the Committee for human rights, religion and national minorities.

Within the Liberal National Party, Cristian David has been responsible for shaping up liberal vision and policy options from different perspectives, while he carried out various capacities: leading the Department for Foreign Affairs, member of the Commission for defense and public order, member of the Commission for European integration, leading Electoral Committee in charge with electoral processes.

Cristian David has been constantly engaged with civil society and actively involved in projects aimed at building capacity among young generation of politicians including as Founding Member and active leader of the Institute for Liberal Studies (2006).

H.E. Cristian David holds a PhD degree in Statistics.
