International Dialogue on Migration
for Safe, Dignified and Secure Migration (2009)
Council Sessions
|
The International Dialogue on Migration (IDM) was launched during IOM's Council in 2001, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of IOM. The IDM provides a forum for governments, international organisations and non-governmental organisations, experts, civil society and the private sector to identify and discuss the principal international migration issues of our time with a view towards finding practical and cooperative solutions. Every year, the IDM is guided by an overarching theme which is elaborated during workshops and at the annual Council Sessions which bring together migration policymakers from IOM's Member States and observers from around the world. The annual IDM sessions at the Council allow for an exchange of views and experiences with respect to the annual theme and also feature a segment on "Migration Highlights" which examines key migration developments around the world.
