Laurence Hart

Laurence Hart has been Chief of Mission of the IOM Mission in Libya since December 2005. Prior to this post he was Chief of Mission of IOM Tunisia since June 2003. He joined IOM in 1997.

Mr. Hart has worked for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) various times from 1996 to 1998. He was Polling Supervisor Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Trebinje (Srpska Republic) in September 1998, an election observer in Kavaje (Albania) for OSCE in June/ July 1997 and an International Election Trainer for the municipal elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1996. From February to May 1997 he was Election Officer in Ilok, Eastern Slavonia, for the United Nations Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium (UNTAES).

He holds a European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratization from the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation in Venice, Italy, and a Degree in Political Science from the University of Turin (Italy).
