Since its creation in 1951, IOM has been committed to the country, implementing various programs for the benefit of the migrant population, which have contributed to addressing the challenges posed by migration.

IOM Chile keeps an active collaboration with several ministries such the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a joint agenda for cooperation; the Ministry of the Interior supporting several projects along with the Foreign Affairs and Migration Directorate (DEM for its Spanish Acronym), the Investigative Police (PDI for its Spanish Acronym) and the National Office of Emergency (ONEMI for its Spanish Acronym). Likewise, IOM holds a close relation with the Ministry of Health helping intensively with the training programs in primary care to migrant population and with the Ministry of Education, through programs of movement assistance. In addition, it supports the local governments holding a strong collaboration with more than 15 municipalities through the Migrants and Cities programs.
