The International Organization for Migration (IOM) serves the needs of an estimated 281 million migrants worldwide (3.6% of the population, as of 2020), in addition to the uncounted hundreds of thousands of people who cross borders irregularly each year, including those who may have been trafficked. In recent years, Member States have called upon IOM to support a significant proportion of the estimated 59.1 million IDPs across the world, particularly the many and increasing millions displaced each year by disasters (23.7 million in 2021 alone). IOM Report 2021 offers an overview and key data about the work and impact of the Organization.
