Inter American Course on International Migration

The 28th edition of the Inter American
Course on International Migration took place this month in Mar del
Plata, Argentina.

The three week course brought together
officials from 17 Latin American countries to discuss and share
experiences on migration issues of mutual concern such as the
different migration processes in Latin America and migration
management tools available, the judicial and administrative
framework of the migration structures, international migration
policies and programmes, international migration commitments,
regional consultative processes and the human rights of
migrants.

The IOM Regional Office in Buenos Aires has
been organizing this annual course for over a quarter of a century
as part of its work with Latin American governments to address
common migration issues and discuss new trends and initiatives to
better manage migration.

Migration officials from Argentina, Bolivia,
Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Dominican Republic Ecuador, El
Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru,
Uruguay and Venezuela agreed on the need to work together to find
compatibility among the different migration realities in the
continent.
