Not Lost and Not Forgotten: Syrian Children are Fighting for their Future with Education
Syria: Six years into the armed conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic, the situation continues to deteriorate, write Muse Mohammed, Laura Sisniega Crespo, Raber Aziz, and Olivia Headon.
Over 5 million Syrians have taken refuge in the five neighbouring countries – Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt; nearly half of them are children.

Syrian Sweets: Iraq's Female-Run Sweet Factory
Iraq: Nearly 240,000 Syrian refugees live in Iraq, having fled the crisis in Syria. Although Iraq is experiencing mass displacement created by its own deadly conflict, life there is becoming more and more permanent for displaced Syrians, as they see sieges and death enduring in their country, write Sazan Gawdan and Olivia Headon.
In 2016, five years into the conflict, a group of female Syrian refugees came together and set up the Jeenda Sweet Factory in Domiz Camp, Iraq.
Most of the women involved are the heads of their households and can now provide for their young families for the first time since fleeing Syria.
TOGETHER is a global initiative that promotes respect, safety and dignity for everyone forced to flee their homes in search of a better life. More here
