Access to Clean Water in Bangladesh

Cox’s Bazar district in Bangladesh hosts the protracted presence of a large number of displaced undocumented Myanmar nationals, eroding and overstretching the existing public health structure and coping mechanisms of an already underdeveloped district.

Poor sanitation practices and lack of access to satisfactory
sanitation infrastructure threatens public health. Unreliable access to potable water leaves the makeshift settlements and local host communities susceptible to disease and poor maternal and child health.

IOM activities are coordinated at an inter-agency level to provide adequate infrastructure and capacity to offer the required services, especially outside the major population zones.
