One of the major objectives of IOM’s Community Stabilization project, funded by the European Union, is to promote social cohesion among mixed communities in Bangui. IOM works closely with local associations to identify projects that originate from the community and will contribute to peaceful cohabitation among mixed ethnic and religious groups. Local associations submit proposals to IOM for financing, and IOM works with the communities to realize the projects. Some of the projects include screenings of World Cup matches, community theatre, and a semi-marathon, among others.

The following four events were funded by IOM in August, and include: football matches, community meals, a community theatre performance, a painting workshop, and a “mega-concert” featuring some of Central Africa’s most well-known performers.
