i am a migrant
“i am a migrant” is IOM’s campaign to promote diversity and inclusion of migrants in society. It is specifically designed to allow the voices of individuals to shine through and provide first-hand insight into the triumphs and challenges of migrants of all backgrounds and at all phases of their migratory journeys. IOM seeks to combat xenophobia and discrimination by appealing to both the head and hearts at a time when so many are exposed to a negative narrative about migration – whether on our social media feeds or on the airwaves. Thus far, IAAM includes 1,200 profiles from across the globe. The anecdotes and memories shared on the platform help us understand what words such as “integration”, “multiculturalism” and “diversity” truly mean. Through stories collected around the world, diversity finally finds a human face.
“i am a migrant” is part of the UN TOGETHER initiative that promotes respect, safety and dignity for everyone who has left home in search of a better life.
Global Migration Film Festival
The Global Migration Film Festival (GMFF) is an opportunity for the world to celebrate the diversity and unique contributions of migrants to the communities and countries in which they live. It is also a tribute to the many films that capture the beauty and challenges of migration and bring these realities to audiences around the world. The Film Festival is part of the UN's ‘Together’ campaign, a global initiative that promotes respect, safety and dignity for everyone forced to flee their homes in search of a better life. In the GMFF films are used for an educational purpose and are a powerful tool that can influence perceptions and attitudes towards migrants. They do so by bringing attention to particular social issues and can act as a catalyst in social transformation.
Community Response Map
Community Response Map (CRM) is a feedback platform which facilitates online tracking, compilation and visual mapping of communications received by target communities. This tool has been developed by IOM to enhance community engagement and two-way communications. Community Response Map allows project managers to easily customize, pilot, and scale feedback solutions that connect directly with target populations. CRM can turn a simple information campaign into state of the art interactive feedback.
Security and Communications Analysis Network
The Security Communications and Analysis Network (SCAAN) is a collaboration project being designed and developed by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and Sheffield Hallam University’s CENTRIC. It is a digital platform designed to provide efficient and effective communication and enhanced situational awareness during a crisis for IOM staff and security officers operating in the field.
SCAAN provides a mobile reporting application for both IOS and Android devices in order to connect field staff with their security focal points and their overarching staff security unit via the SCAAN Dashboard.
