On 7-9 May, a three day Peace Festival took place in Qatroun high school. The festival brought together around 1,750 participants from the local community, displaced individuals, guests from neighboring areas and migrants to celebrate peace and social cohesion.
At its annual New Year’s Reception on 2 February IOM highlighted its increasing involvement in the field of labour market participation in the Netherlands.

In 2015, Typhoon Maysak hit the states of Chuuk and Yap, FSM. The ferocity of the storm severely damaged houses, crops and public infastructure. Nearly 30,000 people were affected, representing more than 50 percent of Chuuk's population ans 10 percent of Yap's.

Three Chilean Mayors travelled together with IOM Chile representatives as part of the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) sponsored by the State Department, for purposes of sharing good practices related to the social inclusion of migrants.
In November 2016, rains failed for the third year in a row; forcing Somalia into a devastating drought. From then until March 2017, over 600,000 people have been displaced within the country.
During the past two weeks IOM has assisted 586 stranded migrants return home to Guinea Conakry, Nigeria and Gambia. So far in 2017, IOM Libya has helped 3,089 stranded migrants return to their countries of origin. Of those, 601 were eligible for reintegration assistance.
On 21st March, 2017, IOM Ghana provided the Ghana Police Service (GPS) with six vehicles and equipment to combat child trafficking.
