The project aims to address the interlinked challenges of decreasing rural productivity, increasing unemployment, and climate change impacts on the agricultural sector in rural areas in Kazakhstan, particularly for women. The project's objective is to contribute to supporting the Kazakh government in building the resilience of and empowering local communities in target rural areas of Kazakhstan through enhanced agricultural cooperation and urban-rural partnerships.
Key interventions include conducting a gender-sensitive comprehensive situational analysis (Output 1.1), organizing multi-stakeholder dialogues and consultations (Output 1.2), conducting a study visit to a country with successful agricultural cooperatives (Output 1.3), and setting up a pilot small grants programme for agricultural cooperation (Output 1.4). These interventions aim to increase the resilience and empowerment of local communities to contribute to sustainable development through enhanced, Government-supported, and climate-resilient agricultural cooperation and urban-rural partnership (Outcome 1), thereby contributing to the project objective.
