Bucharest – IOM, the UN Migration Agency, has launched an innovative partnership with Mastercard to support migrants and refugees in building a better life in Romania.
The collaboration between IOM and Mastercard will provide financial education for vulnerable groups and lead to the development of tailor-made financial products for migrants and refugees.
Nairobi – The Government of Kenya signed and launched the Kenya UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2018-2022 in Nairobi on 26 June 2018. The event was attended by representatives from the Office of the President, National Treasury, Council of Governors, the private sector, the Partners Group, and United Nations agencies including IOM, the UN Migration Agency.
Johannesburg – The Responsible Business Forum (RBF) on Sustainable Development started yesterday (25/06) in Johannesburg, South Africa. The three-day event will address the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the African continent, with a focus on innovation, youth and technology.

Geneva – International Day of Family Remittances will be celebrated this Saturday (16/06). To mark the occasion, IOM, the UN Migration Agency, wishes to highlight the development potential of financial and social links that tie migrants to their loved ones back at home.
Lusaka – IOM and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Secretariat signed an Agreement to work together to implement a European Union funded project to facilitate small-scale cross-border trade flows. The Agreement was signed by COMESA’s General Secretary General, His Excellency Sindiso Ngwenya and IOM’s Regional Director for Southern Africa, Charles Kwenin, in Lusaka, Zambia on 8 June 2018. This follows the signing of a broader umbrella agreement between the European Union and COMESA for this project on 8 May 2018 at the Mwami Border between Zambia and Malawi.
Geneva – IOM, the UN Migration Agency, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), are today (18/05) hosting the first Annual Diaspora Forum initiated by the Parliamentary Network on Diaspora Policies at the UN Office in Geneva, Switzerland. The forum is dedicated to Diasporas as Partners for Development in the Globalized World.
Lazio – Albanian diaspora individuals shall have more opportunities to contribute to the socio-economic development of Albania. The programme Engagement of Diaspora to the Social and Economic Development of the Country, is funded by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development and implemented by IOM, the Migration Agency in Albania, in cooperation with the Albanian Government. It aims, inter alia, to create mechanisms to engage with students, professionals and entrepreneurs, in particular, those from the Albanian diaspora in Italy.
Quito – IOM, the UN Migration Agency is supporting the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador in organising a two-day Regional Workshop on Labour Mobility and Youth Employment that starts today (15/05) in the capital, Quito.
