In response to increasing security risks, IOM in partnership with CENTRIC of Sheffield Hallam University introduced SCAAN, the Security Communications and Analysis Network. Drawing onthe EU-funded ATHENA project, SCAAN allows aid workers, diplomats, peacekeepers, volunteers and others to seek for help through a push of button on their smartphones. This unique collaboration is using security research to respond to real-time operational challenges and save lives.
