A two-day seminar ending in Quito today is providing training for
over 100 officials responsible for implementing migration- related
policies in the four-nation Andean Community – a customs

The training, organized by IOM and the General Secretariat of
the Andean Community, focuses on new regulations designed to
guarantee the rights and freedom of movement of Andean citizens,

IOM has held similar workshops in La Paz, Bolivia, and Bogota,
Colombia. Another is planned for Lima, Peru.

Participants included officials from the Ecuadorian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, the National Secretariat for Migrants, the
Ministry of Interior, the National Directorate of Immigration, the
Ministry of Labour, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Ministry of
Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, the National Institute of
Statistics and Census, the Latin American University of Social
Sciences, and the Andean University of Simón Bolivar.
