These recruitment scams seek to impersonate IOM and/or IOM staff members, by using IOM’s name and emblem, the names of IOM staff members, or otherwise pretend they are communications from IOM.
IOM does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process (application, written test, interview, processing) and will not ask for any information related to passwords or bank account details. Please ensure you verify all communications before sending any sensitive information. Candidates are reminded that IOM official domain name is @iom.int. - WARNING – Recruitment Scam Advisory
-
The general public is advised to be aware of recruitment scams and fraud using IOM’s name, the names of its officials, or communication without using official domain (@iom.int). The use of IOM’s name and logo in these fraudulent activities is unauthorized and illegal. These are fraudulent activities that may seek to obtain money and/or personal information from the recipients of such communications.
Recruitment scams may take the form of an offer of employment or advertisement for job openings with requests for payment of fees by candidates. The scammers' request for the payment of fees may also come only after the fraudulent job offer has been accepted by the candidate.
Extreme caution should be exercised in relation to any suspicious communication as financial loss and identity theft could result from the sending of money or personal information to those issuing such fraudulent communications.
IOM does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, written test, interview, processing) and will not ask for any information related to passwords or bank account details. Any requests for such payment or information should be refused and reported to local law enforcement authorities for appropriate action and to the IOM for its information.
